Indian Head Massage is a treatment that has evolved from traditional grooming techniques that have been practised within Indian families for thousands of years. Although it was originally restricted just to the head, it has now been "westernised" to include the upper back, shoulders, upper arms and neck - all places which hold stress and muscle tension.

The Benefits Of Indian Head Massage.
Indian Head Massage is a deeply relaxing treatment with many physiological and psychological benefits. It improves the circulation of blood and oxygen to the head neck and shoulders and aids in the elimination of toxins and other products from these areas. This results in improved condition of the hair and skin, greater concentration and relieves eyestrain. Indian Head Massage helps to relax muscle and nerve fibres in the treated areas and can reduce tension as well as stimulating the production of endorphins - the body's natural pain killers. It helps to slow down and deepen breathing, slows the heart rate and lowers blood pressure. It encourages the body to rest and relax, all of which assist the body to repair itself.
A typical treatment is carried out with the client seated in an upright position. Massage starts with the upper back and shoulders, proceeds to the arms and then to the neck, scalp and hair, and finishes with the face and ears. Indian Head Massage can be applied through clothing or with a towel wrapped round the client and oil applied directly to the skin, depending upon the client's own preference.
Treatment lasts approximately 45 minutes (allow one and a quarter hours for an initial health consultation and treatment)
