Reflexology has its roots in Ancient Egypt, India and China. It was developed into the therapy we know today in America in the 1930s by Eunice Ingham who is known as the Mother of Modern Reflexology. She was the first to map the body onto the feet.

Reflexology is a holistic therapy which works to balance the body as a whole and not just on specific symptoms. By helping the body to return to its natural equilibrium, reflexology encourages the body to heal itself. Reflexology is particularly effective in helping to relieve conditions where stress is an underlying factor. Reflexology has been shown to be effective in the relief of back pain, migraine, sleep problems, hormonal imbalances, digestive problems and stress-related conditions.

During a treatment, pressure is applied to reflex points in the feet which correspond to various organs and structures of the body. This helps to stimulate the natural action of that organ when the stresses and strains of everyday life have knocked it off kilter. The client remains clothed throughout, apart from removing shoes and socks.

A typical treatment lasts approximately one hour (allow one and a half hours for an initial health consultation followed by treatment).
